Hereford United coach John Trewick is hoping the players can kick-start their season when they take on Cheltenham Town at Edgar Street this afternoon.

The Bulls have two home games in League One in the next eight days, against Cheltenham and Northampton Town, and Trewick is hoping the players will bounce back after going four games without scoring a goal.

"It will be a very important three points against Cheltenham if we can get them," said Trewick.

"We have the two home games, which I hope we can capitalise on.

"I do feel for the players at the moment, especially the strikers.

"Nothing seems to fall for them and nothing is going right.

"Even when we had chances at Peterborough a fortnight ago we found a goalkeeper in top form.

"It is not easy for strikers because you are judged on the goals you score, and whatever else you do that is the bottom line.

"So we have got to keep encouraging the players and hope that they can turn the corner.

"The way the league has panned out, Cheltenham are one of our closest rivals.

"It's like the bottom of the Premier League – everybody knows that the bottom teams should be getting results from the teams around them, and I guess that in our position at the moment it's no different."

Skipper Karl Broadhurst has also told supporters that the recent run has been very frustrating for everyone involved with the club.

"We are struggling to find the net in front of goal not just for strikers but our defenders as well when they go up for corners," said Broadhurst.

Goalkeeper Craig Sampson will have to wait to see if he continues between the posts against Cheltenham after Bulls' chief Graham Turner signed Matt Murray on a month's loan from Wolves.

Sampson replaced Darren Randolph for last week's FA Cup tie against Dagenham & Redbridge after on-loan Charlton man Randolph walked out of Edgar Street before the match.

However, Turner has since brought in 27-year-old Murray, who is keen to get back into action after a series of injuries.

"I just hope that I can help Hereford while they are helping me," said Murray.

Steve Guinan, who rejoined Hereford from Cheltenham at the start of last season, will be looking to get back on the goal trail against his old club.

Andy Williams, Bradley Hudson-Odoi and Nick Chadwick are all available for selection alongside him, while Dean Beckwith will continue at the heart of the defence after being recalled for the injured Bruno N'Gotty last week.

Hereford from: Sampson, Murray, Rose, Diagouraga, Taylor, Smith, Guinan, Hudson-Odoi, Easton, Broadhurst, Williams, Beckwith, Breen, Gwynne, MacLeod, O'Leary, Done, Johnson, Chadwick, Ashikodi.
