Trescothick is player of the year
Marcus Trescothick's fabulous 2009 has continued with the Somerset opener named Professional Cricketers Association player of the year.
The Keynsham-born batsman was voted the top performer in county cricket by his fellow professionals at a gala evening in London last night.
Trescothick was not able to collect the Reg Hayter Cup in person as he is in India for the Champions League, whic begins for Somerset tomorrow.
Trescothick, who topped the Most Valuable Player rankings last week, was also named in the PCA team of the year along with team-mate Craig Kieswetter and Gloucestershire paceman Steve Kirby.
