Treble joy for Jordan as Wanderers' invincibles go marching on
Hanham Minor League Under-10s: Jordan Connolley's hat-trick set Nicholas Wanderers Under-10s on the way to maintaining their unbeaten record with a 12-1 aggregate victory over Yate United in Division A.
Sami Karahan netted the other goal in the opening game. Both goalscorers were well supported by James Morton, Ethan Platts, Jared Ford and Jordan Gilbert, while Sam Delve, Jaydon Liddiatt and Owen Woodsworth ensured Yate were always on the back foot.
Wanderers ran riot in game two and would have scored more had it not been for a magnificent goalkeeping display by Yate's Charlie Ross.
As it was, they had to settle for eight goals, Terry Wise leading the way with a hat-trick and the others coming from Xavier Nicastro (2), Kwyn Gilbert, Jack Staples and Callum Fudgell. Sean Marvin, Jack Josham, Ryan Young and midfielder Sam Coole all turned in solid performances.
Bitton completed the job in the second game to beat Brislington 3-1 on aggregate in another Division A clash. George Jones' early goal, after good work from Todd Carter, set Bitton on their way in game one but Brislington equalised in the second half as the match finished 1-1
Bitton continued to press after Jones' opener, with Harry Prewett and Eli Britton impressing down the flanks and Jaye Rudge, Carter and Jack Churchill solid in middle.
The second half saw Bitton's Adris Mahmood produce a lively debut display but neither side could could manage a winner.
Keeper Charlie Bennett dived bravely at the feet of an oncoming striker to stop Brislington taking an early lead in game two. But, with Rob Smyth and Terrell Patterson doing well in midfield, Bitton soon settled and finally took the lead when Ollie Shopland jinked between defenders to score from a narrow angle.
Liam Parry, Tyler Barnes and Josh Garnett got through plenty of defensive work as Brislington pressed but Bitton secured victory late on when a goal-kick was played out to midfielder Louis Brown, whose pass found Daniel White in space to finish neatly from close range.
Keynsham Town were given one of their toughest tests of the season by a battling Bristol United, their winner in the 3-2 success coming just two minutes from the end of the second game.
Keynsham started the Division B encounter well and took the lead on three minutes when Lochlainn Collins scored for the fifth successive game, slotting home a fine Corey Clifton through ball.
United quickly equalised through Harrison Kyte and another swift break saw Khari Ferguson put them ahead.
Town had to wait until the second half for their equaliser, Collins sending Clifton clear to score, but they were made to work hard for the 2-2 draw as their man-of-the-match keeper Josh Black was forced to sprint from his box several times to thwart dangerous United attacks.
The second game was a highly competitive affair which Keynsham just shaded, as the United keeper had to make three point-blank saves while also getting a hand to Joel Milhofer's late winner. Ben Sainsbury was Town's star man for a super defensive display.
Warmley Rangers and Highridge cancelled each other out in a hard-fought match which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Warmley took the lead in the first half with a fine Cash Vinnall strike following a quick clearence by keeper Domenico Greco. Warmley defended strongly after that, with Billy Hopkins and Richard Wathen particularly impressive but Highridge equalised midway through the second half.
The second game was equally tight and finished goalless. Jason Peach and Ben Webb had outstanding games in front of keeper Adam Bishton, whose handling was excellent, while Sam Lewis and Lakelan Houghton both went close to winning it for Warmley.
