Travellers leave roadside camp near Bristol
Travellers who set up an illegal camp on a grass verge next to a busy road near Pilning have started to move off.
About 12 caravans, together with an assortment of vans, pick-up trucks and a horsebox were taken on to the site at the side of the A403 in Northwick nearly a fortnight ago.
They camped right in front of houses, whose owners said they were subjected to anti-social behaviour from the traveller families.
They demanded action to move the camp and South Gloucestershire Council said it was in negotiation with the travellers.
Police officers were also informed and statements taken from the householders.
One resident, who did not want to be named, said an officer then returned and spoke to the travellers, who gradually started to move out. Only a few were left on the verge last night.
