A REDLAND personal trainer is setting his sights on the tip of a London skyscraper as he prepares to race to the top for charity.

David Sully, 34, will be climbing the 920 steps of Tower 42 to raise money for housing and homelessness charity Shelter.

His 'Vertical Rush' charity attempt takes place today in London's sixth tallest building.

David said he was inspired to take up the challenge while lying in bed.

He said: "I spotted this on a breakfast news show two or three years ago while munching on bacon sandwiches in bed.

"I promised myself while sipping a can of pop that I will do this challenge – so here I am raising money for Shelter by doing my first ever Vertical Rush".

David has been getting support with his training from Kingsdown Sport Centre since he signed up last autumn.

The gym instructors designed a programme full of jumping exercises to prepare David's legs for his tough tower racing challenge.

David added: "Everyone at Kingsdown Sport Centre has supported me every step of the way. The gym instructors have given me the best support I could have hoped for."

He encouraged people to sponsor him to boost his support.

All the money raised will be donated to Shelter, to support its work with homeless and badly housed families.

The charity estimates that every two minutes across the UK someone faces losing their home.
