NAILSEA'S monthly farmers and craft markets have been cancelled after forecasts of snow. Both the markets were due to take place in the town centre on Saturday, from 9am to 1pm.

But organisers decided to cancel both events after weather experts forecast heavy snow and ice for North Somerset from Friday and across the weekend.

Nailsea Town Council clerk Ian Morrell said: "We felt with the weather forecast that we could not guarantee the safety of people visiting the market. A number of the producers and stallholders also have a fair way to travel to the market which could prove difficult in bad weather conditions."
