Chipping Sodbury will be celebrating all things French when it reaches a landmark anniversary.

It is 30 years since the town set up a formal link with Cesson, which is about 20 miles from Paris.

Since then, there have been a number of exchange visits between the twinned towns.

Now a larger-than-usual group from Cesson is on its way to South Gloucestershire for a weekend of birthday events.

The mayor of Cesson, Jean-Marc Brule, will be among the guests arriving in Chipping Sodbury on Saturday, May 30.

Their visit will coincide with a launch event for the annual Chipping Sodbury Festival – a barn dance in the town hall.

On Sunday, there will be a celebration buffet in Yate and in the evening a choir from Cesson will entertain their hosts and past twinning link chairmen with a concert.

The visitors will also have a tour of the Museum of the Great Western Railway before heading home.
