Bitton missed out on the chance to go level on points with Premier Division leaders Dawlish Town as their winning run came to an end with a shock 1-0 home defeat against Welton Rovers.

Bitton missed the skills of player-coach Michael Meaker, who was serving a one-match suspension.

Despite looking the better side in the first half, they rarely looked dangerous and their only chance fell to Mark Reynolds, who headed wide.

Bitton went a goal down midway through the second half when Chris Lewis punished some poor defensive play to give Welton the lead. Bitton showed some fight, but the nearest they came to scoring was when skipper Danny Hallett had a shot cleared off the line in the 85th minute.

"It's a setback as we now have two away games (at Calne Town and Sherborne Town), but I am looking to sign a couple of players to strengthen the squad," said manager Andy Black.

Wellington took a 63rd-minute lead through a Simon Ingram penalty at Ilfracombe. Despite being reduced to 10 men early in the second half, Ilfracombe took a point with a late penalty from Lee Francis.

In the First Division, second-from-bottom Almondsbury gave a good performance to take a point from a 1-1 home draw against second-placed Bradford Town.

After a goalless opening half, Almondsbury suffered a blow at the break when they lost goalkeeper Chris Coles with a groin strain. Manager Andy Maxted took over the goalkeeping duties. He was beaten in the 77th minute when Terry O'Pray gave Bradford the lead.

Almondsbury hit back to earn a deserved point with a goal from Chris Church, who scored from close range in the 81st minute.

Clevedon United came out on top 1-0 in their derby with Portishead Town at The Hand Stadium.

It was won with a late goal from Mark James after a good run and cross from striker Ryan King had opened up the visitors defence.

In another derby, Keynsham Town were 1-0 winners over Hengrove Athletic at Norton lane with a late goal from Josh Dyer.
