Julian Harmer has warned his Longwell Green Sports players they must raise their games if they are not to fall regular prey to the Premier Division's big guns.

Sports opened their first campaign in the Toolstation top flight by storming to three straight wins.

But back-to-back home defeats, the latest a 3-0 setback against Welton Rovers, has set Harmer thinking ahead of tomorrow's game at Larkhall Athletic, who won promotion with them last season.

"What happened against Welton is going to happen to us at times and the important thing is the players wise up to what this division is about," said Harmer.

"Having experienced defenders like Mark Summers, Sam McAlinden and Lee Vickerman out injured hasn't helped, but the players have to stand up and be counted."

On the plus side, Sports welcome back Summers and striker Chris Churchill for the Larkhall clash.

Brislington are to enter the transfer market in an effort to solve their shortcomings at both ends of the pitch.

They go to Sherborne Town tomorrow with just one win from their opening six games and assistant manager Paul Sainsbury conceded: "We need to sharpen up at both ends, although we looked much stronger at Bitton (0-0) last Saturday.

"We've made a couple of seven-day approaches for players and are waiting for their responses."

Welton Rovers entertain Barnstaple Town eager to kick on after their impressive midweek win at Longwell.

Manager Mark Harrington, who is without David Blake, fellow midfielder Mark Rowlands and possibly left winger Danny Maye, said: "The new players have bedded in well and we are a much better unit after eight games."

Bishop Sutton are without a game because Willand Rovers, are entertaining Poole Town in the FA Cup.
