Tigers are coming to Wraxall
A new tiger enclosure being built at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm in Wraxall is just a month away from completion.
More than a dozen people have been working non-stop on the one-acre site since planning permission was granted in March.

Owners Anthony and Christina Bush are spending £200,000 to create a home for five endangered Bengal tigers, which could be at the zoo by next month.
It will have five dens, with bullet-proof glass windows for the public to peer through and tunnels for the animals to get from the dens to the enclosure.
Keepers and vets will also use the confined space to safely tranquillise and treat the huge cats. The enclosure will be sustainable, harvesting rain and underground water into underground storage tanks to replenish the two ponds. There will also be platforms for the tigers to jump on and bask in the sun, wooden structures for them to climb and scratch their claws on and, in time, a collection of trees.
A 16ft wire-mesh fence will keep the public and tigers apart, and viewing platforms will allow people to watch the tigers on their own platforms or as they play in the pools.
The tigers will have three keepers, two of whom are on a week's training course at Whipsnade Zoo, Bedfordshire.
Mr Bush said: "We are hoping the tigers will be here in mid-June, but it is dependent on the zoo inspectorate passing what we have done. For those who like big cats it will be pretty exciting."

“He sought planning permission for this? Wow! That has to be a first. Now for the pesky public footpath problem!”

“"The tigers will have three keepers, two of whom are on a week's training course..."
What are the tigers being trained to do on this course? I've tried to train my cat from crabbing in my neighbour's garden, but he just won't learn. Cats, eh?”

“Five tigers for Noah's Ark Zoo Farm. I've got a basic grasp of maths and a rudimentary knowledge of then Old Testament. If the animals go in two-by-two, then there's going to be a problem.”

“Bullet-proof glass? To protect the tigers from being shot at or to prevent the tigers shooting the visitors? All part of the infinite mysteries of God's Wonderful World.”
