Tiernan-Locke keeps up his impressive run
Jonathon Tiernan-Locke continued his excellent start with the Sport Beans-Wilier team claiming victory in the Blackdown Grand Prix road race near Chard, in Somerset.
The team finished with five riders in the top 10 of the 80-mile event, while Marcin Bialoblocki made a cautious return after recovering from breaking his collarbone, coming home 13th.
The strong showing bodes well for the first event in the much-anticipated nationwide Tour Series of town and city centre races, taking place tonight in Milton Keynes and next Thursday in Exeter.
Big crowds are expected for tonight's race, which will be shown by ITV tomorrow at 7pm, with a host of big names including Olympic hero Ed Clancy taking part.
Sport Beans Bristol riders Ben Luckwell, Grant Bayton, Billy Joe Whenman, Will Bjergfelt and Mark Perry will be competing in what promises to be an exciting occasion.
Team manager Luckwell said: "We're hoping to make a mark at Milton Keynes with a strong team performance. And if it comes down to a bunch sprint, Billy could be in with a chance."
Tiernan-Locke's success in the Blackdown in torrential rain on Sunday was achieved with a blistering push on the last climb of the race.
Dave Clarke (Pendragon Sports- Kalas) went with him, but could not match his power on the run-in, with Tiernan-Locke winning by almost a minute.
