Tickets are now on sale for a Benefit Gif to raise money for those affected by the M5 crash in which seven people died and 51 were left injured.

The event at the newly developed Grand Pier in Weston Super Mare will feature a mixture of music and comedy provided by local and national performers. Heading up the event is the five-part harmony group The Overtones, who have appeared on ITV’s This Morning and Dancing on Ice. They will be supported by the rock band Rude Tiger, ska band the Emperials and Hip-Hop band N.U.M.B.

Bristol comedian Mark Olver who has supported Russell Howard on tour and regularly works with stars such as David Walliams and Jimmy Carr, will be joined by Joel Dommett (Russell Howards Good News, Skins), Eric Lampaert (BBC 2’s Lifes Too Short).

A minutes silence will also be held during the Benefit gig to remember the seven people who died and those affected by the crash.

The event, which is over 18's only, will take place on Sunday December 4 from 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £15 plus a booking fee and are available from the Bristol Ticket Shop on Union Street (Tel: 0870 44 44 400) or online here.

All proceeds from the Benefit Gig will go to the M5 Memorial Fund which has been set up by officials at Wellington Football Club.

Organiser of the Benefit Gig, John Langley from Brislington said: “We have been touched by the overwhelming support of people getting in touch to offer their services."

He added that the Exeter-based Landmark Information Group had provided sponsorship to cover the costs of putting on the gig so that as much money could be raised from tickets as possible.

“@brizzleBoo - agreed, it's a cracking venue and promises to be a great gig as well, I'm just confused about the "waterfront in Bristol" bit on the ticket site!”

“@780715JVB1 The gig was originally supposed to be at Colston Hall but I can confirm the organisers have now moved it to the Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare. Not sure why, but it's still a great venue!”

“I'm really confused, wasn't this originally planned around a date that was available at Colston hall?

I'm even more confused by the description on Bristol Ticket Shop:

"M5 BENEFIT GIG AT WESTON GRAND PIER, WESTON SUPER MARE at and around the Waterfront area in the centre of Bristol"

At the grand pier at and around the waterfront in Bristol? What does that mean?”
