Thrissell Nomads' Niall's dazzling wing play decides game
Niall O'Loughlin made the difference as Thrissell Nomads came out 1-0 winners over Tyndalls Park Rangers in the Suburban League Division II.
He had a brilliant game on the right wing, was a constant threat, and provided the cross for the goal.
His assist was superb. He gained possession on the wing, beat his marker with a mixture of pace and trickery before whipping in a low cross that was finished at the back post by Danny Moore.
Team-mate Luke Welling also should have scored as he went through one-on-one following an inch-perfect through-ball from O'Loughlin, but his effort was too close to the keeper.
And the Star Man could have grabbed a goal himself after a Moore cross eventually found its way to him, but he shot narrowly wide.
O'Loughlin said: "It was a good hard-fought win. We played good football in patches and are delighted to have won."
Thrissell captain Dan Campbell said: "Niall's a quality player and he also battled well. He made some great runs and is a real asset."
The winger was a constant thorn in Rangers' side, running at their defence with speed and good balance while also possessing the ability to deliver a potent final ball.
Thrissell dominated the game, but otherwise lacked an end product.
O'Loughlin wins the Star Man Award for his outstanding crossing of the ball, always seeming to find a team-mate or putting the ball into a decent area.
