Western Counties North: Thornbury moved up to fourth place with a 32-11 victory away to North Bristol, who remain rooted to the foot of the table.

The first half was a tight affair, but after the turnaround the visitors powered clear in some style for a rare win at Oaklands.

Tim Stephens put Thornbury in front with a long-range penalty, before North bounced back with a fine spell rewarded with an unconverted try from Kris Harris.

Sam Olde's well-worked try put Thornbury back in front, before Stephens and North full-back Joel Phillips exchanged penalties to make the half-time score 11-8.

The second half, though, was dominated by the visitors, who pulled clear with an early score from George Maggs, who hit the line at pace. Stephens added the conversion.

A second converted try from Maggs saw Thornbury extend their lead to 25-11.

The visitors' final try came close to full-time. Sam Olde made good ground before kicking ahead for Ollie Fleming to gather and touch down, despite being held. Stephens kicked another conversion.

Old Redcliffians went top with a 42-7 home win over Southmead, moving clear on points difference from Barton Hill, who suffered a first setback of the season at Stroud.

Two Jack Steer penalties kept Barts in a tight, feisty encounter. But the visitors' discipline slipped in the final five minutes, conceding two kickable penalties which Stroud converted to take the points.

Keynsham went down 23-20 at Centralians, while Hornets overcame Berry Hill 26-22 thanks to scores from winger Jordan King, lock Greg Speller, fly-half James Dibble and captain and centre Sam Lloyd-Jones, who also slotted a penalty in each half.

● Flanker Neil Holder scored a try in each half as Avonmouth battled to a 21-14 win at Ivybridge in South West One West.

Full-back Andy Taylor landed two penalties before the break in a close encounter which turned on Holder's late touchdown. Taylor, who had added a further penalty, kicked the conversion.

Clevedon remain fourth after downing Yatton 22-3. Chris Caites opened the scoring, following up Mike Lowis' unsuccessful penalty attempt for an opportunist score, while Owen Biggins, Tom O'Rourke and Ryan Smith also touched down.

Weston-super-Mare recorded their third win in National Three South West after tries from James Arnold, Mike Kempton, Daniel Fry and George Sparks helped secure a 26-21 home win over Barnstaple.

But Cleve were edged out 28-24 at Oxford Harlequins.
