Thornbury boss Lippiatt has selection worries
THORNBURY Town manager Dave Lippiatt admits his young guns have given him a major selection headache ahead of tomorrow's home clash with Chipping Sodbury Town.
Teenage full-backs Jack Warren and Dan Wood shone during last weekend's 2-0 victory at Yate Reserves. But with fellow defenders Pete Fowler and Sammy Lippiatt available again and central midfielder Dave Greaves back to duty, Lippiatt Snr confessed: "The young lads have played very maturely and it's given me some serious thinking to do."
Relegation-threatened Hanham Athletic are hoping defenders Matt Walker and Dan Bryant, who have missed out through injury and work commitments respectively, declare themselves available for the trip to Patchway Town as they attempt to build on the encouraging 1-1 draw at Highridge last weekend.
Jairzinho Wright insists Henbury can still snatch the title with a late burst but confessed: "It's no longer in our hands." Wright, whose team aim to cut the eight-point deficit between themselves and leaders Slimbridge in tomorrow's crucial home clash with the Gloucestershire pacesetters, maintained: "We've still got to play them twice and Kings Stanley twice so a win tomorrow would set the lads in great heart for the run-in." Arran Rosser is unavailable but Jermaine Wright, Gary Clark and Craig Hobbs all return. Mike Low steps in for the unavailable Chris Sage in the centre of B&W Avonside's defence for the trip to Taverners as they strive to capitalise on last weekend's 3-1 victory over an AXA outfit who had hit a purple patch.
"It was a convincing win; our best performance for a while," boss Carmelo Micciche enthused. AXA attempt to bounce back with a win at home to Bishop's Cleeve in a sixth versus seventh affair.
