Thompson takes advantage with paste to win at Kingston Seymour
DESPITE 30mph winds being forecast, 19 anglers turned-up to contest the Avon Angling Midweek 'Pole Only' open fished on Plantation Fishery's Main Lake at Kingston Seymour.
The top overall individual weight was taken by Avon Angling's John 'Turkey' Thompson, who poled paste at 16 metres off Main Lake 28 and brought 66-4-0 of carp weighing into low double figures to the scales.
Peg 19 on the Main Lake spit came up with the heaviest silverfish weight for Tony Rixon, who poled caster over groundbait at ten metres centre to tempt 26-12-0 of skimmers.

Geoff Stones topped both categories in the South West Disabled and Over 50s match fished on Acorn's Paddock at Kingston Seymour.
He poled maggot straight down the track and into the lakeside margins of peg eight on the home bank for 30-4-0 of carp to almost 6lb plus 4-15-0 of mostly skimmers.

South West Maver representative, Steve Mayo long-poled maggot over groundbait at 14.5 metres off peg 11 and romped home a comfortable winner with a 23-7-0 mixed bag in the Cadbury Angling Centre 'Silvers Open' fished at Plantation Lakes, Kingston Seymour.
The runner-up was local rod, Paul Faiers, who fished waggler and maggot tactics at peg 27 for a 16-6-0 mixed bag.
Meanwhile, Bristol's Callum Dicks opted for long pole tactics at peg seven and took third place with a similar16-3-0.

Local rod Mike Owens scraped home by the weight of one decent sized Paddock Match Lake carp in a Tuesday Tenner open match that attracted 19 competitors to the Kingston Seymour carp fishery.
Owens poled a soft 6mm pellet all round at bridge peg 22 and finished just 3-2-0 clear of his nearest challenger.
Bristol's Chris Davis topped the silverfish category with a 9-15-0 mixed bag taken from peg 18 on the long bank with maggot.
