A BICYCLE theft victim was reunited with her bike after she spotted someone repainting it in a garden.

The owner phoned police when she spotted her distinctive bike – stolen in the summer – being repainted in a garden in Warmley on Tuesday.

Police recovered the stolen bicycle within 30 minutes of receiving the call. A 14-year-old boy was arrested and admitted the theft. He is on police bail pending a final warning.

PC Lee Humphreys, who seized the bike, said: "Thieves are increasingly taking bikes of any age and value. They will take them from the side of the road, the garden and increasingly are breaking into sheds and garages to take them.
