The summer holidays will herald the end of an era at Crossbow Pre-School in Frampton Cotterell, where leader Pat Grynyer is bowing out after 29 years.

Pat, a nursery nurse began as an assistant at the playgroup in St Peter's Hall, Church Road, after her daughters Sally and Kelly had started school.

She became leader in 1988 and in the last few years began to see the children of some her first charges come to the playgroup themselves.

"It has been the best job in the world and I will miss it dreadfully," said Pat, of Mount Close.

"The paperwork of the last few years has been a downward spiral, but I have just loved working with the children."

Pat is looking forward to more time with husband Alan and to getting more involved in community and voluntary work.

Crossbow Pre-School is open five mornings and one afternoon a week for up to 24 children at a time.

“All three of the children in our house have passed through Ms Grynyers wondeful hands.
her guidance, learning and dedication to not just our three children but all the other children has enabled them to move on the proper school confident and more than ready to face the challenges this move inevitably brings.she leaves very big shoes for someone to step into.
    Thank you Ms Grynyer
    From the Bryan Family”
