I am the grandmother of Troy and his brothers Daniel and Warren. I was with Troy on the night he died and to see my family go through this is nothing short of hell.

However, whoever it was that has devastated my family and numerous friends can never be sentenced fairly, but neither can the minority that spoilt the wonderful gestures and support of the majority at 'the walk'. Old and young alike have been wonderful.

Friends and total strangers pulled together and to my daughter Kim, this has been overwhelming. I do say to the shop owner however, I think you miscounted the offenders, they were but a handful and you handled the situation diabolically, classing all the walkers the same and over-exaggerating your loss.

I too live in Hartcliffe and am proud of this fact. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your kindness and support, it will never be forgotten. Well done Hartcliffe and Bristol South – most of you are simply the best. We will never forget your support

Myself and my family would also like to send our sincere condolences to the family of young Sam Riddall and we truly hope they hold their heads high as do my entire family.

Rose Atkinson,

Hartcliffe.

“Thank you Rose for this heart-felt comment.

Thank you and your friends also for the superb buffet that you provided at Hartcliffe Community Centre -a bit like "Feeding the 5,000."

At times like this, I reflect that in a hundred years none of us will be around. The options seem simple: either at the end of our lives there is nothing, or perhaps something....

Most religions teach that what happens (Reward or punishment) will depend on balance on how each of us
have lived. Troy will be rewarded for all the very many good things in his life I believe.

Perhaps in Heaven there are not only harps but also rugby pitches and pot noodles and strawberry milkshakes... who knows? Something better perhaps? Lol Paul”
