I just wanted to thank our Armed Forces' veterans and organisers of the Armed Forces Day parade in Kingswood for such a successful event and enjoyable occasion.

It was tremendous to see our local veterans, who fought for our country and our freedom, marching in uniform with pride down Kingswood High Street, in spite of the hot weather.

We all owe them an enormous debt of gratitude, and it was heartening that so many people turned out to watch the march and to participate in the event at Kingswood Park afterwards.

Among the tanks, the sound of military bands, and the many stalls advertising local charities, I'm sure that everyone who came along felt the real sense of community.

We cannot thank you enough.

Chris Skidmore,

Prospective Conservative MP,

Kingswood.

“I have to agree, a good day enjoyed by most attendees.

It is a shame no "proper" serving representatives of the armed forces were in attendance, this I feel would have really given us something to be proud of and also for the wider community to personally thank them for the great work they do.

Finally to those few who did attempt to spoil the day by drunken heckling, you probably won¿t be reading this, but I am glad the police removed you from the park.”
