Textile recycling scheme launched to extend lights
A TEXTILE recycling scheme has been launched in Portishead to raise cash to extend the town's Christmas lights.
The town's Christmas lights committee has launched the textiles recycling campaign in an attempt to raise £2,000 to allow it to extend the illuminations in 2013.
This year it is hoped the lights will be extended to cover the youth centre, Scout hut and Brunel Court.
The campaign will run through January and February and volunteers will be available to collect the unwanted items from people's homes. Those wanting to donate goods – from old bedding, curtains, clothes, shoes or handbags – can also take them to Portishead Youth Centre.
