“@Vonner:
Funny that Davies has been out of the game for some time ala Curbishley.Perhaps he's got that "Difficult to manage" handle about him?”

“@Vonner:
You've got in in one-The Swansea model.
That included a brand new stadium (That a lot of our fans don't seem to want)that SL's company will buy.Neither have Swansea spent that much in Prem terms in the transfer market.They've even sold their best player to Man City where he can't get a game.
All about management & strategy.Joined up thinking, if you will
Swansea even made a profit last season.No rich benefactor there
Mind you, I wouldn't want to nearly go out of existence like they did...........And we did in 1982!”

“Would of been nice to get there, if only for a season!”

“Red E - 90 mins from the Prem but unless Mr Lansdown really spent big money (and he is not in the habit of that) I think we would have got a real going over. Swansea have shown the ideal blueprint to success for me...”

“Tongue in cheek comments re player managers of course..if I had to give a name of someone I wouldn't mind having a crack at it - Billy Davies. Yes another Scot but has done pretty well at this level and strikes me as someone with passion for their club...”

“My point was that NW and MM were not seized when available, ie before Leeds and Ipswich got them!”

“So let's have a look:
@ johnbristol3:
A blast from the past-Joe Jordan or Royle? Why not Coppel-Same kind of thinking although at least JJ has worked with Harry-Can't see him being interested and he, apparently, tured down the Scotland job-Possibly as Director of Football replacing JL?
@Red_Emerson: Experience
Warnock will be available if Leeds don't do very well and so might McCarthy but I can't see either man jumping from their ship on to ours.
@Vonner:No Experience-Player Manager
Three commited, knowledgable, supporters possibly representative of AG Opinion.And all quite different.
TBH I'm really glad it's not my decision and, unless a really great candidate becomes available (Allardyce, Martinez)Curbishley doesn't even get mentioned any more, I wouldn't jump unless we get afew hidings and it becomes apparent that we absolutely have to.
At present, if we won our game in hand tomorrow, we'd be safe so whilst I'm very concerned, I'm not screaming for his head right now.”

“Louis Carey - player/manager - job done :-) - or get Paul Hartley back if you want a Scot in charge and he could still do a job as player/manager...
I think we all know in reality we are stuck with Del Boy. He is lucky enough to be almost unsackable in this current climate. Like I said in an earlier post I hope his position rests on keeping us up with January wheeling and dealing - he should be told that. Give the guy a 'staying up bonus' or a contractual promise of another season if he needs any further motivation. But we can't keep going round in circles trying to stave off the drop every year.
If we survive then we will have to see improvement next season or we are just treading water at this level. I don't mind seeing us in the Championship for a few more years if we are at least going in the right direction - let's face it we are a million miles from the Prem. Just please no more Div 1 dross...”
