Bristol teen threatened to bite off cop's nose
A Bristol teenager threatened to bite a police officers' nose off after he was stopped and searched for drugs.
Jamie Walker, 19, of Barrowmead Drive, Lawrence Weston, pleaded guilty to a public order offence and failing to surrender to custody when he appeared before Bristol Magistrates' Court.
Crown Prosecutor Gareth Giddings said unemployed Walker and two of his friends were stopped in Shirehampton High Street and searched for drugs at 1pm on February 16.
Mr Giddings said Walker immediately became aggressive and abusive towards officers .
The prosecutor said: "He was gritting his teeth, foaming at the mouth and being heavily aggressive."
Victoria Ellis, defending, said her client was unhappy about being targeted by police.
She said: "He doesn't do drugs, he doesn't drink and he tries to stay out of trouble. Mr Walker believes the police had already made their minds up about him and his friends before they searched them. One of the officers searched Mr Walker's friend's car and took out some speakers and dropped them on the ground. One of his friends was dragged into the back of a riot van and is pursuing a claim against an officer for assault. The friend was unconscious when he arrived at the police station. Mr Walker lost his temper because he had done nothing wrong."
The court was told Walker had been sentenced on March 3 for a similar offence he had committed on January 31.
Magistrates sentenced Walker to a community order, ordered him to wear an electronic tag and stay at home between 7pm and 7am for 10 weeks, and pay £50 in compensation to the officer he abused.

“Had Walker succeeded in biting off the policeman's nose, he would have been bound over to keep the piece.”

“Patricia, it is you that is speaking nonsense. Although the magistrates and judges hand out the sentences, their hands are tied by maximum fines and sentences that can be given out. All part of the criminal justice system in this country which is set out by guidlines established in Parliament. Here's a useful tip for you if you want to get rid of someone you don't like..... If you want to commit a murder, use a car not a gun.”

“Enid, what nonsense, the punishment for all forms of crime is laid down in law,if our Magistrates, and Judges, refuse to hand down sentences that are within that law,it is no fault of MPs from any party.”
