Avon and Somerset Police said the girl, who is believed to be 13, suffered life-changing injuries but they were not believed to be life-threatening.
A South West Ambulance Service spokesman said that the girl sustained serious leg injuries.
He said the air support unit was called to the scene mainly due to the clinicians on-board and their ability to provide more powerful pain relief.
The patient was then taken to Frenchay Hospital by land ambulance.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact the police on 101.

“Isn't that two accidents on this same road within a week of each other?”

“I have personal experience of a similar incident. She has a long road to recovery and my thoughts go out to her and her family.
Where pedestrians come into contact cars all efforts must be made to allow good visibility and reduce road speeds.”
