Teenager Newton breaks Old Down 10-mile course record
Young Freddie Newton from Winterbourne shone in the latest Severn Road Club Evening 10-mile time trial around Old Down, north Bristol.
The Newport Olympic rider broke the junior course record with a time of 24 minutes, 12 seconds on a dry night which also saw under -13 James Kempe (Bristol South CC) and under-14 James Hathway (Severn RC) set new fastest times.
Rob Lyne (Giant CC), the senior course record holder, was quickest on the night.

● More than a 100 seniors and 50 juniors took part in the final Castle Combe circuit race of the summer. In a sprint for the line Ian Rees(TTI) pulled away from Marcin Bialoblocki (Sport Beans-Wilier) and Hugh Wilson (Forza Cycles) who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
● The South West Regional Road Race Championship that was postponed in May is to be run on a course stating from Lewdon in Devon on Sunday, September 13, it has been announced.
● On Saturday, Cycle Bristol CTC holds two rides: a 30-miler to Blagdon from Ashton Court, starting at 9.30am, and a 60-miler from Winterbourne to St Briavels starting at 9am (10am, Severn Bridge).
