Teen drug addict jailed for robbing 15 Bristol homes
A teenager who burgled 15 homes in Bristol to fund his drug addiction has been jailed for 15 months.
Ross Terry stole up to £7,000 worth of possessions from one victim's address in Horfield, including a Mini car and jewellery.
Terry, 19, of Cooks Cottages, The Common, Almondsbury, pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary and volunteered information to police on 14 other burglaries he had carried out in the city which he asked the sentencing judge to take into consideration.
William Hunt, prosecuting at Bristol Crown Court, told how the defendant burgled the home of Justin Paull in Cropthorne Road, Horfield.
He said Mr Paull went on holiday with his fiancée on October 25 this year and at 11.30pm the following day, a neighbour saw his Mini being driven away.
The court heard that his house had been broken into through a back window that had been forced.
When the victim returned home, Mr Hunter said he discovered his car keys and car had been stolen, together with jewellery, a lap top computer, mobile phone, money and spare house keys worth a total of £5,000 to £7,000.
Mr Hunter said Terry was arrested on November 6 and the spare house keys were found in his bedroom.
Nicholas Arthur, defending, said his client had been involved in a "flurry" of offending to fund his cannabis and cocaine use.
Jailing Terry for 15 months in a young offenders institution, Judge Carol Hagen said: "This principal offence was a serious offence. Imagine how your mother would feel if her house was burgled and things stolen she had worked hard to pay for and personal possessions."

“Steve ~ whilst I do feel a little bit sorry for some of these addicts that really don't know what they are doing ~ in this case this teenager knew EXACTLY what he was doing. Far too lenient this sentence.”

“It's a shame that characters like this are given access to lawyers, it would be interesting to listen to some of these morons give reasons (excuses) why they do what they do. I agree with GR, I wish the justice system gave them a serious punishment.
If they are no use to society, then keep them away from us.”
