Teen cyclist killed on Bristol's Portway
A teenage cyclist died when he was run over on the Portway in Bristol.
Police are appealing for help to identify the cyclist, who was aged between 17 and 18.
He died when he was hit by a red Seat Ibiza car just before 6pm yesterday.
The teenager died from his injuries despite the attempts of paramedics to try and save him.
The accident took place at the turn-off to Sylvan Way, and the Portway was closed in both directions. The victim was cycling in the direction of the city centre at the time of the accident.
The incident was attended by a number of Great Western Ambulance vehicles, including a critical care team from the air ambulance unit.
Avon and Somerset police are asking for anyone who knows the teenager, who had short, brown, spiky hair, or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact them on 0845 456 7000.

“I am very disappointed to see people arguing about such a tragedy. I'm sure there is a more apropriate place for personal disputes rather than a place where the persons family and friends may read these posts!!! I actually knew the guy who died, and although he wasn't 17 or 18, he was a still a young man with a life ahead of him. His family are well respected and known to the community , as im sure you will see in the following news stories to come, and it will be a great loss. I hope the people who have forgotten what the story is really about....about the loss of a human being, wil read this and feel disapointed with themselves. RIP Nick, and condolances to the family.”

“They do know who the victim is, but as I am aware it is not public knowledge, I will leave it at that. I know the family as wish them the best at this cold and most undesirable time.
May he rests in peace.”

“Taking nothing away from a tragic incident
They dont still know who he is.
So anyone reading this and has not heard from a friend Please ring them just to check they are not the person involved. As they say his age about 18 I dont understand he had NO id on him most youngster do, so it could well be someone a little younger than thought my boy looks older than he is.
And please stick to the Item”
