Bristol City manager Gary Johnson announced a change in personnel and formation for tonight's Coca-Cola Championship clash against arch rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Fully recovered from a knee injury sustained while playing for Scotland against the Czech Republic last week, midfielder Paul Hartley came back into the starting line-up at the expense of Danny Haynes, who was dropped to the bench.

Eager to avoid a repeat of Saturday's 5-2 defeat to Doncaster Rovers, Johnson opted for a more compact 4-3-3, in the process abandoning his expetriment with two out-and-out wingers.

There was a welcome return to the substitutes' bench for left-back Jamie McAllister, back in the squad for the first time in a month after shaking off the effects of a calf strain.

City (4-3-3): Gerken; Orr, Carey, Nyatanga, Fontaine; Skuse, Hartley, Johnson; Campbell-Ryce, Iwelumo, Maynard. Subs: Sproule, Clarkson, Haynes, Akinde, Williams, McAllister, Henderson.

Palace (4-3-3):  Speroni; Clyne, Lawrence, Hill, Butterworth; Carle, Derry, Ertl; Andrew, Lee, Ambrose. Subs: Danns, John, Scannell, Hills, Djilali, N'Diaye, Mann.

Referee: Mick Russell (Hertfordshire)
