Team Jansen are cup winners over Spartans
Bristol & Wessex Sunday League round-up:
Division I leaders Team Jansen carried their winning form into the League Cup – by thrashing the club they could well replace in the Senior Division next season.
Spartans lie bottom of the top flight without a league win this term, and slumped to a 12-1 home defeat against a Team Jansen outfit who have a 100 per cent record in the division below them.
Ben Crewe (3), Matt Batchelor (2), Scott Lewis (2), James Dunn, John Durbin, Dean Maggs, Lee Watts and Craig White were on target for Team Jansen, with Chris Pippard replying for Spartans.
Division II challengers Three Lions also booked a comfortable passage to the third round, beating Senior Division outfit Coalpit Shaft 7-0. James Peart scored a hat-trick with Tom Gwyther, Ashley Hughes, Craig Knight and Liam Peart also on target.
Ryan Bending's treble steered Cutters Friday to a 5-2 win over Withywood United in a clash between two Senior Division clubs. Jamie Churches and Scott Newman were Cutters' other scorers, while Ryan Peacey and Ashley Riddock netted for Withywood.
There were plenty of goals in the two President's Cup first-round matches. The Swan (Hanham) won 8-4 at Golden Lion Fishponds, with Scott Green, Luke James and Lewis Perryman all scoring doubles.
Matthew Robbins and David Scutt also got in the act, while Blake Rogers (2), Alexander Pullen and Stephen Tunbridge netted for the Lion.
Division I side Sartan United saw off Zimba, from Division II, 8-0 with goals from Steven Shepherd (2), Nick Taynton (2), Paul Bryant, Steve Lane, Christopher White and Paul Williams.
In the Senior Division, SCS Sunday missed the chance to go level on points with leaders Post Office Sports as they shared the honours – and eight goals – in their draw with UWE Dynamos.
Terry Caswell, Ben Fry and Christopher Lewis (2) scored for SCS, while James Cooke and Steve Rice both netted twice for UWE.
Real St George and The Robins also took a point each from a 3-3 draw in Division I. Liam Woods (2) and Kevin Walker scored for Saints in reply to efforts from Christopher Goodyear, Luke Sharp and Lee Shorney.
South Bristol United gained their first point of the season in Division II, Christopher White (2), Stuart Boyd and Sam Thomas earning them a 4-4 draw at City Dart Veterans, whose scorers were Robert Bell (2), Alan Curtis and Adrian Turne.
Christopher Staddon struck twice for AMC United, who beat Badgerline 5-1.
