Taunton's derby joy
Bridgwater Town 1 Taunton Town 2: Taunton put their off-the-field troubles behind them to cause the surprise of the day in Division One South and West of the BGB Southern League.
Having fended off rumours in midweek about their financial problems and desire to stay in the Southern League, Taunton provided the perfect response before the best crowd in the division – 500.
"I couldn't have asked for any more from my players," said Taunton boss Ian Jones. "They were superb. I shouldn't really single out any individual, but our goalkeeper Lloyd Irish was brilliant.
"He took a knock in the first half and played the entire second half with one eye closed. I don't think there was ever a moment when we didn't look like winning."
Bridgwater fell behind to a 35th-minute goal from Owen Irish, brother of goalkeeping hero Lloyd.
Dan Forward hit back with an equaliser for Bridgwater in the 40th minute, but ex-Radstock striker Twaine Plummer pounced to head the winner after an hour's play.
The win enabled Taunton to move five points clear of the relegation zone, while Bridgwater dropped to 12th.
