Taunton Town to wait over appointing new boss
Southern League Taunton Town have still not made a move to appoint a new manager.
Taunton are waiting on the outcome of an appeal to the Football Association by Winchester City, who had three points deducted and were fined £1,300 for fielding an ineligible player, John Docking, in Division One South and West.
If City were to be successful, the restoration of the points would push Taunton back into the relegation zone.
"We won't be doing anything until the FA meet to discuss Winchester's appeal," said Taunton chairman Tom Harris. "It could be another month."
Taunton are known to have had a flood of inquiries about the position, following Ian Jones' decision to quit last month.
Coach Paul Short was caretaker manager for Taunton's last four matches but has ruled himself out of the running to do the job at Wordsworth Drive on a permanent basis.
Former skipper Paul West helped Short towards the end of the season and is thought to be interested in the job but has not applied for it.
There is speculation that Wellington's young manager Leigh Robinson may not be with the Toolstation League Premier Division club next season.
The ambitious 28-year-old says he is considering his future. He has already made it known he would like to manage at a higher level and has been linked with the Taunton job.
