Taunton Town will delay appointing a new manager until the club's playing future is clarified.

They are waiting on Winchester City's appeal against the deduction of three points for playing an ineligible player in Division One South and West of the BGB Southern League.

If the appeal was successful it would mean that Taunton, who finished third from bottom, would be relegated.

Taunton finished with a point more than Winchester and Bracknell Town after winning their last match 3-0 at home to Burnham.

Coach Paul Short was caretaker manager for Taunton's last four matches following the resignation of Ian Jones but does not want the job on a permanent basis.

Taunton picked up five points out of a possible 12 under Short.
