Taunton Town 0 Merthyr Tydfil 3

Taunton boss Paul West says he is set to trim his squad following this disappointing display against Merthyr in the FA Cup first qualifying round.

"We had a job to put two passes together," said West afterwards. "We work at it in training, but we can't take it into games.

"But what really upset me was that we threw in the towel at 3-0 down. I would never have done that in my playing days. I've now seen what the players can do and I'll be looking to let one or two of them go."

Merthyr killed off Taunton with a three-goal burst either side of half-time.

Cortez Belle netted the first from the penalty spot in the 44th minute and snapped up a second in the 48th minute. Tariq Knalil scored Merthyr's third in the 51st minute.
