Taunton Town's board are fully committed to backing manager Paul West despite the side's shock exit from the Somerset Premier Cup at the hands of Wells City in midweek.

The Toolstation League First Division leaders beat Taunton 1-0, leaving the Zamaretto Southern League Division One South & West club without a victory since August. West has been in charge since the summer.

Taunton chairman Tom Harris said last night: "We believe that Paul can turn it around. We have to give him time.

"Obviously, this can't go on forever. But at the moment we're fully behind him.

"We had plenty of the play at Wells but couldn't score. That's our biggest problem at the moment – we cannot score. I suppose the time to really worry is when you're not creating chances."
