One of Craig Talbot's burning ambitions is to beat long-time Wessex Centre trial champion Colin Crease.

He finished 10 marks behind the Frome ace in the first round of the current series at Yate a fortnight ago and just four marks behind Crease in last weekend's second round near Sutton Benger.

He will be hoping it is third time lucky in the West Wilts club's third round at Westwood on Sunday.

However, it will not be a two-horse race as a line-up of more than 50 riders also includes John Luff, Ian Shuttleworth, Andy Noad, Ross Thurlow and Mendip Vale clubmen Kevin Lennox and Rob and Tom Pike.

Other regular award winners in action in the three or four lap event in Beckie Addie Woods include the Wessex Centre's only regular female competitor, Andrea Cottle, her husband Dave, Tim Wheeler and Peter King, who won last weekend's timed and observation trial at Backwell Hill, near Lulsgate.

Meanwhile, Yeovil's Ricky Wiggins goes for his fifth consecutive win in the South West Centre Championship series in the Otter Vale club's Stuart Trophy event at Combe Raleigh.

His main challengers in a three-lap, 14-section event at Hill Farm, are Nick Baker , Cornwall area champions Rob and George Pollard, Ross Hancock, his near-neighbour Jason Lawer and Chris Heane from Surrey.

With the Camel Vale Club's trial at St Kew postponed for two weeks, the entry for the Otter Vale event is expected to be over 100-strong.

Sunday Fixtures: West Wilts MCC James Cup Trial, Beckie Addie Woods, Westwood near Bradford on Avon (10.30am)

Otter Vale MCC Stuart Trophy Trial, Hill Farm, Combe Raleigh, near Honiton, East Devon (10am)
