The latest hare-brained plan from the EU is for all sheep in Europe to be electronically tagged (Western Daily Press, March 17).

This ridiculous scheme will have a catastrophic impact on UK farmers. Many will go out of business. The British Government has given up our nation's veto which could have stopped this crazy proposal.

A majority vote by EU agriculture ministers will force all sheep farmers across the bloc to comply with this costly plan.

Decisions affecting agriculture in Britain should be made by the UK Government acting in the best interests of the farmers of our nation.

The EU's stupid set-aside scheme forced many UK fields to be wasted and become fallow land. At the same time, many millions of people in developing countries were starving. What a scandalous state of affairs.

The forthcoming European elections on June 4 allow the people of Britain to deliver their judgment on the crass, anti-democratic EU.

An independent UK, having withdrawn from the EU, would be able to block the tagging scheme unilaterally.

The EU's proposal to tag sheep is a criminal waste of money. The EU Commissioners are clearly dangerous people causing chaos in British agriculture – they should be tagged, not the sheep!

“Justin UKIP stand up for Britain and the British people, it was UKIP who originally put the tagging into the public domain, as we did the plight of post offices, two week waste collections, sea anglers fishing quotas, the danger to small car service centres and much more. Voting for UKIP at the June 4th EU and County elections will help us continue our work to dismantle the corrupt and power crazy EU.”

“This doesn't surprise me at all following from ideas coming out of Brussels. After the report on the news today about organisations having to much information about us, 1984,2009 what's the difference.”

“Well Charles I never thought I would agree with you,but I do on this one. We are losing our freedoms as a country. Any form of tagging, whether it be for animals or humans is nothing more than tyranny. This country has lost it's balls to stand up against powers far greater than anyone could imagine.People just allow this to happen, and no one stands up and fights for are country. Down with the EU and the elites.”

“:| It is not only Sheep tagging that is harebrained, but PASSPORTS and NOW microchip tagging for horses.

I'll let you all guess which groups of people will totally ignore and abuse this obsessional 'Control Freakery' as they already do.

As with all ID systems; they are a very costly Inconvenience for the LAW ABIDING, and totally ignored and abused by THE REST.”
