A fire at a transmitter near Bath has affected television and radio transmissions to an estimated 80,000 homes.

A spokesman for the Avon Fire and Rescue Service said early indications suggested the fire in three sheds at the Bathampton relay station was started deliberately.

All Freeview television channels and BBC Radio Bristol's 104.6 FM, national analogue and digital radio channels have been affected.

Fire crews from Bath rushed to the scene shortly before 6am today.
