Opening day at the Lane welcomed Sea Mills, a side that we knew nothing about.
It was never going to be an easy game due to the fact we had seven players not available and a back four that had two players on debut.
The game started fairly slowly with both sides not really reaching second gear.
Leigh Iles was using his high energy levels to scamper around the ground chasing every lost cause.
Sea Mills created two chances but big Matthew "no show" Sheppard was up to the challenge producing a couple of brilliant saves.
With a lack of creation on our part we went in to the break at 0-0 with an improvement needed for the second half.
With an abundance of blisters and general lack of fitness Munden at centre half became quite wasteful with the ball.
This must have been contagious as the lads couldn't keep the ball for long spells and squandered a handful of chances.
The biggest culprit was Matthew Grimes who failed to score from two one-on-ones.
With the full backs both having strong debuts there was always the chance of us scoring.
At one point there was a very funny sight as two bald-headed players were so close together it made them look like one big backside because Ed and Kempy's heads were close together.
The team seems to be going through a transitional period so I think a point isn't a bad result against a decent team. Hopefully next week we can be a bit more decisive and play with more cohesion.
On a brighter note. Saturday night's bonding was a success, highlight being Leigh Iles being lemon and lime-eyed and starting a fight with Silver – priceless!
Man of the match: Ed Davies
