Desperate for a result in today's npower Championship relegation battle against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, Bristol City boss Derek McInnes abandoned his policy of playing one striker and returned to 4-4-2.

Sam Baldock returned to partner Ryan Taylor up front as midfielders Neil Kilkenny and Stephen Pearson dropped to the bench.

And in a surprise move, on-loan centre-back Stephen McManus made a quicker-than-expected recovery from injury to partner former Middlesbrough team-mate Matthew Bates at the heart of the back four.

Liam Fontaine moved to left-back and Joe Bryan was pushed into an advanced role on the left side of midfield.
