Stephen McManus was drafted straight into Bristol City's starting line-up to face Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium this afternoon.

Signed on loan from Championship rivals Middlesbrough in midweek, the 30-year-old Scot replaced Lewin Nyatanga and lined up alongside Louis Carey as Robins boss Derek McInnes, seeking a first clean sheet of the season, experimented with a new-look centre-back partnership.

There were recalls for Martyn Woolford and Steven Davies, who replaced Jody Morris and Ryan Taylor in midfield and attack respectively as McInnes made three changes from the side beaten 2-0 by Leicester last time out.

Liam Fontaine moved from centre half to cover the absence of injured left-back Greg Cunningham and Richard Foster returned to his more familiar role on the right side of defence as Mark Wilson dropped to the bench.
