Sword has to wait after cancellation
Bad weather in the borders region, near Berwick-on-Tweed, on Sunday denied Chippenham's Stephen Sword from gaining a British Moto-X championship win in the 125/250 class.
The meeting was called off following torrential rain after one Open Class race and one 125/250 class race.
Sword now has to wait until the final round at Landrake in Cornwall at the end of September, where he needs just eight points to take the title.
Sword finished nine seconds behind Shaun Simpson in Sunday's sole race.
Brad Anderson is the new Open Class champion after winning Sunday's race ahead of Ray Rowson.
Melksham road racer Darrell Higgins pocketed three wins in the New Era Club's meeting at the Castle Combe circuit on Saturday, but he was pushed hard in all three contests by Bristol's Aaron Ridewood.
Higgins won the Allcomers Championship race after getting past Ridewood in the latter stages.
The latter then held the upper hand in both 125/250 Grand Prix events until the final lap when Higgins twice made his move.

Bad Weather on the England/Scotland borders near Berwick-on-Tweed on Sunday denied Chippenham's Stephen Sword from gaining a British Moto-X championship win in the 125/250 class. The meeting was called off following all day torrential rain after one open class race and one 125/250 class race were run on the treacherous Langton Lees Farm circuit at Duns.
Sword now has to wait until the final round at Landrake in Cornwall at the end of September where he needs just eight points, even if second placed Neville Bradshaw wins both final round races. Sword finished nine seconds behind Shaun Simpson in Sunday's sole race. Simpson, who was back in the driving seat for the first time since breaking a leg in May, led the race for seven laps before losing the advantage to Sword, but he regained the initiative a lap later.
Brad Anderson is the new open class champion after winning Sunday's race by 53 seconds from Ray Rowson. He cannot be beaten.
Billy Mackenzie and Marshfield's Tom Church kept Anderson at bay for the first five laps. Church fell foul of the conditions later in the races, but he fought his way up through the field from 12th to fourth at the finish.

Led by national star Sam Connor, the South East Centre repeated their last year's success in the National Inter Centre Team Trial at St Ives in Cornwall on Sunday.They, Cornwall and North Western were the only teams who did not lose penalty points for finishing outside the six hour time limit in the two lap, 20 section event at Rosewall Hill overlooking St Ives Bay.
South Eastern also won the poorly supported sidecar event from two sides from the host centre.
Yorkshire won both male and female youth events.
