All eyes will be on local riders Stephen Sword and Tom Church in round six of the British Moto-cross Championships at the Foxhills Moto-Park at Wanborough, near Swindon, on Sunday.

Sword, from Chippenham, leads the 250cc class by 55 points, while Church is sixth in the Open Class.

Sword's closest rivals are Neville Bradshaw and Jake Nicholls, but last year's world junior champion Mattis Karro, from Latvia, is closing fast and two high finishes on the Wiltshire Downs circuit could put him into second place and set up an exciting climax in the final two rounds at Duns in Scotland and Landrake in Cornwall.

Like Sword, open class leader Brad Anderson has been short-listed for a place in Great Britain's team for the forthcoming international team event in Italy, and with a 46-point advantage over James Noble the Par Homes backed Honda star will want to maintain his mastery in the series.

Gareth Swanepoel is just two points behind Noble, with Carl Nunn fourth.

Other moto-cross events on Sunday are at Lawn, near Gillingham, in Dorset, which is a meeting for classic bikes and stars of yesteryear, while the ORPA have a championship meeting at Wrangaton, near South Brent, in Devon.
