Swansea step up their bid to sign Bristol City's Albert Adomah
BRISTOL City are facing an uphill battle to keep hold of star player Albert Adomah, who is wanted by Swansea City.
The Premier League outfit are targeting the Ghana international to replace Manchester City-bound Scott Sinclair and are set to offer City £2 million for the winger.
-

And Adomah's great friend and fellow winger Yannick Bolasie, pictured, is also in demand with Championship rivals Crystal Palace poised to table a bid of about £250,000 for the 22-year-old Londoner.
Swansea's interest in Adomah was first reported in May when conversations took place at boardroom level between City chairman Keith Dawe and Swans chief Huw Jenkins.

But The Post can reveal the Welsh club have since firmed up their interest and tested City's resolve with a formal bid. City are holding out for a fee in the region of £2.75m and Swansea are set to come back in with an improved offer once Sinclair completes his proposed move to the Premier League champions.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is in the market for a left winger after England international Adam Johnson failed to make an impact at Eastlands last season and has held talks with Sinclair, who featured in the Great Britain squad that exited the Olympic Games football tournament at the quarter-final stage last Saturday.
Although Swans manager Michael Laudrup does not want to lose Sinclair, contract talks with the former Bristol Rovers and Chelsea starlet have reached an impasse and the Welsh club are ready to cash in now rather than see one of their prized assets become a free agent and leave the Liberty Stadium for nothing at the end of next season.
Swansea will use the cash they receive for Sinclair to fund transfer deals for Adomah and Kaiserslautern striker Itay Shechter.
Adomah's agent is keeping him informed of the latest developments and the former Barnet winger, who was signed by then-City boss Steve Coppell two seasons ago, is keen to speak to Swansea.
Although Adomah has two years to run on his contract and manager Derek McInnes would like him to stay at Ashton Gate, every player has his price and an improved offer from Swansea is likely to be accepted.
Former Nottingham Forest winger Paul Anderson recently joined City on a free transfer and could serve as a replacement for Adomah.
Fulham are also interested in Adomah, but have yet to table a bid. Short of funds at present, the London club are lining up a player-plus-cash deal, But Swansea are closing in and are in pole position to clinch a deal before the weekend.
Bolasie is another who could be exiting Ashton Gate after Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman this week made a move for the former Plymouth winger. City paid the Pilgrims a knockdown fee of £20,000 for Bolasie and could be persuaded to cash in on a player who is in the final year of his contract in order to fund new signings.

“@Cider_Dog:
So we don't have enough strikers to cover for loss of form/injury and you propose selling Pitman and buying someone else??
That doesn't really crack it on the numbers front, does it?
OK, I'll go over the £7m bit again for those who can read but not understand or perhpas prefer not to.
I said, that if Rodriguez who Southampton signed for £7m was worth that then so is Adomah. Now, you can consider that Rodriguez is also worth £3m or that Albert is worth more.
Matter of opinion, really.
@ manchestergas:
Firstly, they won't be going anywhere without a bid being made.It hasn't-Please don't believe the made up articles on here.
Secondly, they already earn a great deal more than Carayol did and probably does so your reasoning's flawed.”

“...and anyone talking about Owen must have memory loss about Marcus Stewart and Michael Bridges as the 'dream team' up front...”

“There is no doubt we need a good striker - doesn't any team? But what price are we looking at? OK now that Taylor is struggling it is bare bones time. If this is the case it might just be the long awaited chance that Pitman has of showing what he can do with a proper run. I think the guy has been written off by too many too quickly, and I'm hoping pre season form (and fitness) might be the making of him.
I seem to recall Jon Stead was pretty much the forgotten man at City till he got his chance when Maynard shot off and Steady took it with both hands.”

“Sell Albert for 7 million?, buy Owen with the cash?...some people here has spent too far long without football this summer lol.
I'd like to think that we could keep AA for another season and then get a higher price for him with a year left on his contract, tricky yes, but worth the risk IMO.
As for the striker, I feel that Baldock 'signing' has died a death, which is no bad thing.
If we sold Pittman we could perhaps push the boat out for a proven NPC striker.”

“I don't think it would be an amazingly huge loss to see Albert leave us, as long as the price is right and we use the money to bring in someone else. I honestly don't think Albert touches the class of Scott Sinclair though. Albert is a very talented winger who is still learning, he could learn a few tricks from Dyer at Swansea which could help him develop...I wouldn't mind keeping Albert for another season though, you never know we could get more for him. Hes got 2 years left on his current contract so there's no real need to let him go anytime soon, as Derek McInnes has stated. In my eyes Albert is slightly over-rated, i mean he's probably the most talented footballers in our squad but i would like to see him in the Premiership first where it's a totally different ball game. As David Cotterill found out. I do rate Albert don't get me wrong. I just believe he's not as fantastic as some people make out. He's worth around 3m, yes, but there are a couple of flaws in Alberts game, which need sorting out. He may be able to sort them out with a little help from players at a better club however, i guess he hasn't got many players around him with hugely great ability at the present time! I wouldn't mind seeing Albert having his chance in the Premiership though, just to see if he can make it or not.”

“@ Big_Gregory
We played Soton who paid that for Rodriquz from Burnley-What I said was that if Rodriquez was worth £7m so was AA.I would compare AA with Sinclair (Price is due to him having only one year left on his contract) and I wouldn't have paid £35m for Andy Carroll or £15m for Joe Allen, however beauty is in the eye..............
Michael Owen-No thanks.
My understanding is that one player will sign before we play Gillingham who have just been fined about £70k for discrimination against Mark McGammon (remember him)and one before we play Forest or shortly afterwards.
That'll be it, pretty much, on the permanent side but I reckon there will be at least one, possibly two, Prem loan players in before the end of Sept.
Every player has his price and we don't want another Maynard on our hands-Offset that with trying to be succesful and you'll see”

“Some of these posts have made me chuckle. A few suggesting AA is worth £7m - I heard Scott Sinclair is leaving for less than that so why would Swansea make a net loss and have a fraction of the player?
As for the Michael Owen suggestion...............come on get real!!!
Is it 10th Aug or 1st April today?”

“Owen has already stated, he expects another couple of seasons, in the top flight and that's not the Championship!
Time to get back to reality guys!”
