Survey: 75% aspire to own a home
NEW research for home builder Taylor Wimpey has revealed that 75 per cent of people in the South West still aspire to own their own home.
Indeed, one in three ranked it more important than getting married, having children, or building a career.
Almost half (46 per cent) of the 1,000 people surveyed by OnePoll said they were prepared to save for a deposit and one third (34 per cent) would go without luxuries to afford mortgage payments.
"There really is no place like home for us Brits," said Richard Goad, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Bristol.

"Owning your own home isn't just about practical benefits such as a secure long-term investment and freedom from landlords. Studies have shown that home owners are more satisfied with their lives and happier than those in rented accommodation."
According to the Office of National Statistics, 80 per cent of people who owned their home reported a medium to high level of satisfaction compared to 68 per cent of those who rented.
