Super Rovers power past Bradley Stoke
Bristol Rovers Supporters Under-15s fought their way through the mud to overcome Bradley Stoke United 6-0 and book a place in the League Cup semi-finals.
Rovers carved out several early openings but found Stoke keeper Ashley Polley in top form.
They finally broke through on 15 minutes when Dom Haugh-Stewart's cross set up Adi Crowley to tuck the ball home at the near post.
Bradley Stoke worked hard to respond, with Zach Greenslade particularly impressive as he broke up a number of Rovers' attacks.
Eventually, however, Rovers' extra quaility told and doubles from Ben Cush and Jordan Headley, and Tom Shopland's strike, sealed the win for Rovers.
DRG Stapleton also went through but had to dig deep before overcoming a gritty Lawrence Weston Colts side 5-1.
They took a 2-0 half-time lead through Jamie Shanbrook and Arnie Neill while, at the other end, stand-in keeper Harry Selman had little to do.
With the wind behind them in the second half, Stapleton went further ahead with an own goal following a defence-splitting pass from Jaime Shanbrook.
Lawrence Weston refused to give up and they took advantage of a goalmouth scramble to reduce the arrears to 3-1. And with Stapleton now on the back foot, Colts twice hit the woodwork as they frantically sought a way back into the tie.
Stapleton, whose Jordan Pullin returned to the action towards the end following a long injury lay-off, put the result beyond doubt with a sweet Billy Deverill strike to ease the pressure, before wrapping up the win in the closing minutes as Louis Ross finished off a great move.
Avon Athletic A demonstrated why they are chasing an Under-13 league and cup double with a dominant display and 2-0 win over Division I rivals Keynsham Town A.
Tom Day gave Avon an early lead andAbdi Omar added a second before half-time. Keynsham had opportunities to get back into the game but, despite the hard work of Nathan Legge, Daniel Davis and their team-mates, it was Avon who deservedly progressed to the semi-finals.
Keynsham Town A reached the last four of the Under-12 Cup with a 7-0 victory over Bradley Stoke
The game was effectively over by half-time as two goals apiece from Callum Fry and Harry Neil, plus a Sam Jarman strike following a superb passing move, gave Keynsham a 5-0 lead.
Further goals from Mike Ollis and Jamie Gregory – his first goal for two years –made it seven and they could have had an eighth in the last minute as Rory Coles' shot bobbled agonisingly on to a post before being cleared.
