Summer projects for Knowle West youths
Young people in Knowle West could have more to do this summer.
Police met representatives from Safer Bristol, the youth service and the Sparks organisation on Thursday to discuss ideas for keeping youngsters occupied and out of trouble.
People living around Melvin Square, Knowle, have complained that teenagers have been causing a nuisance in the area.
It was one of the issues raised at a PACT (Police and Community Together) meeting in April.
Neighbourhood Police Team Sergeant Nigel Colston said: "A small number of people have really been affected by the anti-social behaviour.
"We have identified 20 individuals and the aim is to give them something more positive to do.
"Outreach youth workers are already doing down there and Sparks is interested in setting up a project. First, the bus company, has also been speaking to Sparks about support for the project."
He said money was also being made available through a local development project to improve security.
People from Marshall Walk complained about drug dealing and drug taking near their homes at the PACT meeting.
Sergeant Colston appealed for more information from the public.
He said: "We are aware of people's concerns but we need to identify who is responsible for it."
Anyone with information can call Broadbury Road police station on the main police number 0845 4567000.
Alternatively ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. You do not have to give your name.
