Sue Mounstevens explaining support of restorative justice at event this afternoon
Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens will explain her support of restorative justice - the system that brings offenders and their victims together - when she speaks at the Restorative Bristol Conference today at Colston Hall.
Ms Mountstevens is an advocate of restorative justice because it allows victims to be heard and to have a say in the resolution of offences, and offenders to face the consequences of their actions and understand the impact on the victim.

She will tell the conference that, in all aspects of her role, she will be promoting a victim-led approach and putting victims at the heart of the criminal justice system.
She says: “I will work to develop access to restorative justice at every stage of the criminal justice process. I support any measure that allows the voice of victims to be heard and helps victims to reach closure that cannot be found in sentencing alone.

“From April 2014 I will be responsible for commissioning victim services. There is no doubt that I will be considering how restorative justice can be built into proposals.
I have seen for myself the positive impact that restorative justice can have and I look forward to working with partners and communities in reaching the aspiration of making Bristol a Restorative City.”

“Both hopefully. The storyline in Corrie at the mo proves that. As a female I know that there are male victims of domestic abuse but the feminists go on as if its only women who suffer. They so need a reality check!!”

“Is this for male victims or just females?”
