A group of pupils from Rednock School in Dursley were taken to hospital after two coaches taking them on a day trip were involved in a road accident.

The 15 youngsters were among a party on five buses going to West Midlands Safari Park yesterday.

None of the students were seriously hurt in the crash, which happened on the A449 Kidderminster Road just after 10am and also involved a car.

But those taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital were checked over for possible whiplash injuries.

Gloucestershire County Council said all parents were informed of the accident.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent six ambulances to the scene and both coach drivers and the woman car driver were also taken to hospital.

The service described the casualties as "walking wounded", some suffering neck pain and others simply "feeling unwell".
