Strictly swimming as Mark Foster takes a dip in Hengrove
Swimming star Mark Foster and Strictly Come Dancing professional Natalie Lowe have joined forces to officially open the new multi-million pound swimming and sports centre in Hengrove.
The state of the art complex opened to the public 10 weeks ago and more than 40,000 people, families and school children have used the facilities so far. With a 10 lane, 50 meter swimming pool, fitness studios and gym the center cost 30 million pounds and was funded through a private fiance initiative.

The center is managed by Parkwood leisure and it's Chief Executive Andrew Holt said it's been planned for a long time but is a wonderful facility. The main feature is the pool can be split into 3 area enabling it to be used for multiple purposes and, with spectator seating for 400, it can be used for national and international swimming competitions.

Mr Holt also said a really interesting feature of the pool was underwater speakers for synchronised swimmers which enable them to train much more effectively.
During the opening Mark Foster joined members of the Holymead Swimming Team for a relay race in the swimming pool and then joined Natalie on the dance floor for a demonstration sway dance. Speaking about the swimming pool he said the new facilities were second to none and he urged more children to learn to swim.
