Stolen bike found being repainted in Warmley garden
A BICYCLE theft victim was reunited with her bike after she spotted someone repainting it in a garden. The owner phoned police when she noticed her distinctive bike - stolen in the summer - being repainted in a garden in Warmley on Tuesday. Police recovered the stolen bicycle within 30 minutes of receiving the call. A 14-year-old boy was arrested and admitted the theft. He is on police bail pending a final warning. PC Lee Humphreys, who seized the bike, said: "Thieves are increasingly taking bikes of any age and value. They will take them from the side of the road, the garden and increasingly are breaking into sheds and garages to take them. "We really need people to register their bikes at www.immobilise.com and keep a record of the serial number so if we do recover a cycle we can prove who the rightful owner is."

“Presuming this lad was in his own garden when he was repainting the stolen bike. Why did his parents not ask him where he got it from? Surely they knew it was stolen property and can be charged with perverting the course of justice.”

“I agree with Andy Jrm. Punishment should be handed out more severely in lots of cases and maybe it would make 'future' thieves / thugs etc think twice before stealing or committing crimese. Make the kid pay.”
